If you’re old enough to remember this day in American history, the tribute, taking place at and on the Washington monument will take you back. I had a chance, on Monday night, to glimpse only a bit of the full event, commemorating a truly remarkable testament to what we, as a nation, are capable of achieving when we work selflessly together.

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
